Public Meeting Great Tey Village Hall - 7pm Tuesday 30th January
Essex County Council are facilitating Community Energy Projects around Essex to help them reach their Net Zero targets and to help residents cut their energy costs. Colne Valley Community Energy Project is bringing solar panels with battery storage to domestic and small business rooftops.
75 households are currently engaged in the survey and design phase, with an additional 6 members signed up for installations in 2023.
Householders can receive a FREE desktop survey, followed by an on site survey and design visit. Due to economies of scale, anyone buying through the Project will receive preferential pricing for panels and batteries.
If you would like more information please come to Great Tey Village Hall, 7pm, Tuesday 30th January, to hear Tom Day, Head of Energy and Low Carbon Projects, Essex County Council, explain how this project could help you.
Householders have three options :
1. Buy the panels and batteries outright and enjoy free electricity. Excess energy generated can be sold back to the National Grid or to the Project on a peer to peer basis. Indicative figures for an average three bedroom house are £8500 for 10 panels including batteries and installation costs.
2. Accept the installation of panels and batteries on a pay as you go basis. Suggested costs are £2-£3 per week, for an average 3 bed house, plus the standing charge from the existing energy provider. The householder uses all the energy generated by the panels, plus the
energy stored in the batteries, so they need to buy less energy from their supplier. Any excess generated energy is used by the Project and sold on a peer to peer basis.
3. If the property cannot have panels fitted, the householder can still benefit from cheaper green electricity by buying through the Project
on a peer to peer contract.
